Laughlin offers much more than resorts, restaurants and Colorado River water activities. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, it’s easy to lose yourself in the destination’s beautiful, natural surroundings.
Colorado River Heritage Greenway Park and Trails is a haven for nature lovers and anyone looking for an exhilarating hike, bike ride or even equestrian riding in the appealing year-round climate.
Discover Exhilarating Trail Experiences
There are several entry points to the park and it’s easily accessible from resorts along the riverwalk. You’ll find free parking in multiple locations, and trailer parking and horse access is available in a small parking lot off Davis Dam Road. The park is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day of the year. Guests are asked to please clean up after themselves to keep the park in pristine shape for all to enjoy.
The park contains 9 miles of trails, fully developed restrooms and trailheads, picnic sites, shade shelters, fishing piers, and a highway pedestrian bridge overpass and underpass. Visitors of all abilities can enjoy the trails and accessible fishing areas.
Several specific trails can be explored:
Riverfront Trail
This 1.7-mile path is relatively flat throughout and an easy one for hikers and bicyclists. It’s also handicapped-accessible and good for wheelchairs. Drinking fountains are available throughout the Riverfront Trail.
Horseshoe Trail
A slightly more challenging trail spanning 2.7 miles, the Horseshoe Trail is made of native soil, an ideal surface for horses, hikes and mountain bikes. Access to drinking water is unavailable on this segment.

Dam Overlook Trail
This course is 0.8 miles and is the most rigorous of the four routes as it follows a slow incline to a scenic overlook. It’s also made of native soil. However, on the Dam Overlook Trail, horseback riding is not permitted, and there is no drinking water on this trail.
Desert Trail
An offshoot of the Dam Overlook Trail, the Desert Trail spans 2.8 miles and is made of a hard, packed surface that’s easy for hikers and bicyclists to navigate. This path runs through the desert, so anyone traveling it may encounter native wildlife. Drinking fountains are available on this course. Equestrian riding is permitted.
There are also several trailheads to help you access the trails, including the Bridge Trailhead, North Reach Trailhead, Equestrian Trailhead and Pyramid Canyon Trailhead.
Breathtaking Views of the Mojave Desert and Davis Dam
Whether you’re alone, with your special someone, or on a family or group outing, Colorado River Heritage Greenway Park and Trails is more than just an opportunity to take a refreshing hike or stroll. It’s a place where you can easily surround yourself in spectacular outdoor views.
Soak in the picturesque background of the Mojave Desert as you journey through the park. Along with captivating riverfront vistas in the background, you’ll be engulfed by the Southwest wilderness, and you may see local birds and other wildlife as you engage with nature.
At the north end of the park, you can also appreciate the beauty of Davis Dam, which stretches across the Nevada-Arizona border. This landmark, completed in 1951, was built to regulate the flow of Colorado River water and to manage delivery of it south to Mexico. In addition to great views of the dam, while touring the park you’ll see historic relics from dam workers, visible throughout the trail systems.
